On days like today, Destiny Dominic couldn't help wanting to escape some where quiet. She'd been running around most of the day, doing errands for various teachers. One of her friends had tricked her into signing up for the Homecoming Planning Commity, and, god, was Dessie mad about it. She didn't mind helping out, but when teachers were making her turn the school upside down for a roll of scotch tape, the feelings changed just a little. However, she didn't complain, and just went on her way, happy to be out of class for awhile. The one class she refused to miss was music comp. and not a single person could drag her away from it. Music was her one and only passion, and the one thing she'd stick up for without hesitation.
Destiny walked through the halls aimlessly, using her hallpass as an excuse, though she knew she wouldn't be looking in another room for some streamers or other various decorations. There were other people helping out, they could do something, too. So, she made her way into the library, hiding behind her thick curtain of hair as usual. The librarian paid her no mind, but went back to pounding away at her keyboard. Destiny flopped back into one of the chairs circled in a corner, letting the seat suck her into its comfy clutches. She let her eyes slip closed, trying to numb the pounding head ache she'd had since being told she was helping out with the dance she probably wouldn't even be going to. Nobody had asked her, and she hadn't asked anyone. While it hurt a little to be so shunned by guys, Des liked it that way. She didn't need a guy in her life, and would tell herself that whenever someone brought up the harsh fact that she was still single. But, not too many people in the school understood Miss Dominic and she figured nobody ever truly would. TAG: Open OUTFIT: hurrWORDS: 336 NOTES: :D

Life was something different. Always fast when you want it slow and slow when you want it fast. That’s how James felt at that moment as he padded down the halls. Thankfully, his history class was giving everyone a free period, allowing him to go to the library for some quiet time. Besides, life was being slow. Thus, James was going to pass the time with a good book. Reading always seemed to kick time in the butt. He would get so lost that he would even miss a few of his class periods if he really wanted to, in the case that he had a good book in his hand. Reading was also a nice, calm activity that James liked to do when he wasn’t off throwing a football around or studying. Reading didn’t frustrate him or tempt his strength (except when a character is being stupid). The worst thing he could do would be crush the book until it disintegrates. Then, he would happily pay for the damage and be off on his way.
Hall pass in hand, he clenched his free hand into a fist, feeling his own strength from finger against finger, yet it wasn’t his full strength. Not at all. James always wondered what it was like to be normal and to come up to someone like him; to hug him or shake hands with him and feel his own strength. He supposed that it must be horrible. James rarely hugged others or shook hands with others in fear that he wouldn’t be able to control his power, crushing their bones beneath him. So he stood away from people, rarely talking to them, just incase that they would tempt him to use his strength, but once in a while socialization was good for the little killer. Especially since he had gone quiet since the incident at his hometown. James missed the attention, the girls and the praise he got back then. He was a football star and he was the talk of the town. The keyword: was. Things weren’t like that anymore. He didn’t play as many sports as he used to. James wasn’t even in the high school football team in fear that he would crush someone in a full on tackle. He played a little football, but only under rare conditions and a rare burst of confidence.
Feeling reserved, he decided to take on a quieter activity today. James glanced up at the librarian, giving her an innocent smile as he walked through the wooden doorway. She looked up and paused for a moment before going back to her work, which seemed pretty interesting seeing that he was so intent at keeping her eyes on the screen and her fingers clattering across the keyboard. James shook off the lack of a response and continued on to the music section. Another part time activity that he took part in was music. Playing a little guitar and a little drum, he agreed with the rest of the musicians in the world that it was the best way to release tension and built up emotions. James took it on as a challenge: Do not break instruments and you will make pretty music. He definitely succeeded, using that motivation to help him practice controlling his powers. Once in a while, he would break a string or two and maybe a drum head, but it didn’t matter. Those things were easy to replace.
Another reason why James loved this school was the giant isle of music related books from the history of jazz to those filled with songs on every instrument known to man. However, today, he pulled out a book on transposing and the shift from music note to music note. He always wanted to play a band instrument, and in order to do so, he needed to learn some notes. That book in his hand, James headed off to the fictional section, picking up a few adventure books on dragons and birds with swords. He always loved crazy adventure stories.
Before he knew it, the library was filled with students from his history class and others as well. Seats were filled and even the floor was beginning to fill up. With a sigh, he ran and hand through his dark brown hair before casting his emerald gaze around the room. A light smile turned upon his lips as he spotted an empty floor space near a girl who had already claimed a perfectly good chair. Pity. However, he was happy there was a space for every other space would block isle ways and the entrance. He wouldn’t want that.
Clearing his throat, James approached the girl, smiling light as he held his books under his arm. ”Uhm, do you mind if I sit here?” he inquired, pointing to the space at her feet, in the softest voice he could muster. He had a kind and gentle tone, which shown no signs of past troubles, no matter how wrong it was.

Destiny had long ago learned that her life was full of great things. Like her parents. They'd saved her from growing up as a foster child, bouncing from home to home and turning into one of those depressing sob stories the new reporters so often talked about on TV. Of course, she'd only found out that she could've been one of those a few years ago, when she'd stumbled upon her parents talking about her real mother and all the drama associated with that woman. That was one of the worst things in her life. Her biological mother. She knew absolutely nothing about the woman, and yet she hated her guts. Destiny couldn't understand the point of having a child, just to give her away once she was born. It was probably better than roughing it, though, and she understood that. It still didn't change her hatred in the slightest.
While Destiny didn't talk about that part of her life with anyone, a few of her friends could tell there was something up with her. She looked like her adopted parents, so it was easy to lie, but that didn't mean she liked doing it. Her whole life was a lie and that sometimes hit her harder than it should've. It wasn't her fault her mom had made a mistake, and it definitely wasn't her fault she hadn't found out about it earlier in her life. She still couldn't help feeling like it was, though. No matter how many times she told herself her current parents were her real parents, even if they didn't concieve her, she still felt bad for being a mistake. Afterall, that's just what she and her whole life were. A mistake.
Pushing the thoughts away, Destiny finally found her way back to earth when a gentle male voice spoke. She could tell it was close by and her eyes instantly snapped open, blinking up at the young man standing before her with doe-like innocence. "Oh, uhm, yeah. Of course. Here let me move my feet so you've gotta bit of room," she replied softly, tucking her feet under herself so he had the floor in front of her. Her hair curtained most of her face off, making a shield that was her usual weapon in cases like this. She was painfully shy, especially around guys. Just another personality trait that annoyed her to no end.
Her teeth chewed the inside of her lip gently, looking over the books he had piled under his arm. Destiny could faintly make out the titles on a few, smiling gently at the obvious titles of adventure novels. Her eyes brightened when she recognized the spine of the music book, having checked it out awhile ago for her own uses. "Do you like music?" she asked gently, tucking a few curls of hair behind her ear to reveal some of her pretty face that was lit up with a hint of a smile. Music was one subject she could go on for hours about. Her guitar was her love, and the songs she wrote were her passion. While she wouldn't show off her personal songs to a anyone, especially a stranger, she could discuss music in general. Like if he played anything. "I play, uhm, guitar," she stuttered, cheeks turning a light pink at the sound of her shy voice. Honestly, Destiny knew she needed to have more confidence when thrown into situations like this. Knowing and doing were two completely different things, though, which Des understood very well. She'd tried numerous times to branch outside of her tiny social circle, but each one had failed. All the attempts had turned out exactly the same, with her chickening out and retreating back inside the safety of being quiet.
"I'm Destiny, by the way. Destiny Dominic." Her voice was still gentle and hesitant, frightened eyes looking into this boy's. It was no secret she was scared. Plus, her eyes gave away all of her emotions, anyway. Hiding things wasn't ever easy for her, and she figured it never would be. She pulled her eyes from his, using the excuse of adjusting herself on the comfy chair to keep from looking rude. Her legs moved so she was sitting criss-crossed, arms folding over her stomach to try and hide her legs a little. Maybe wearing short shorts hadn't been such a good idea. It was still unusually warm for this time of year, and Des wanted to enjoy that for as long as she could. But showing off her body in front of guys wasn't anything she wanted. TAG: James! James nodded his head lightly in thanks, grinning as she pulled her legs up into a crisscross applesauce position. With that, he set his books down to the side and sat, eyes looking up at her as a question erupted from her lips. James paused for a moment, taking into account at her shy behavior: the bangs over her eyes, the slight habit of biting her inner lip and a sweet little smile dancing upon quiet lips. Yet her expression seemed to brighten up immediately at the sight of the music book, for that was what her question turned up to be. James couldn’t smile as well.
Music had a way of doing that to people. Just the sight of any kind and any form of music brought smiles to people’s faces. Eyes lit up and immediately a tune ran through everyone’s head. Soon enough, there would be a chorus of amateurs singing or humming their hearts out to the song. No one would mind if they sang badly. The only thing that mattered was that they were having fun. Now that was the meaning of music and James knew it well. As an answer to her question the quick thought like? I love music! crossed his mind, yet he thought the answer over before smiling and replying, ”I absolutely love music.”
James looked down at the music book and nodded. He immediately perked up to hear that the girl played guitar as well. There were many musicians around the world. A majority played the guitar, but what set a certain group out was their ability to play. There were those who thought they could get away with a few chords and calling it a song while others raced their fingers across the neck until their fingers bled. Now those were musicians. As for James, he sat at the in between for neither of his parents had any musical background and he had bought his first guitar himself about five years ago. He had been playing strong ever since, yet he knew quite well that there were many who were better than him. However, he dabbled well in the art of music. James wrote songs that were meaningful yet challenging to play just to force himself to keep his strength in check. Adding to that, he knew all the chords to the guitar and all those notes that made each one. Therefore, he too could talk for hours about music- if anyone got him to talk for that long.
”I play guitar too.” James shifted his position so he was facing her, head turned up to get a better look at the girl, yet as his eyes met hers, he immediately glanced away, scratching the back of his neck as an excuse for the sudden movement. Then there was silence. Oh, how much James hated that awkward silence that he always seems to run into. No matter who he was talking to, there would be a pause in their conversation and like a red flag, it made him tense as he turned to do things that could possibly fill the eerie silence. He would listen to the other person breath, panic a bit before turning his attention to his shoes or the edge of his t-shirt before he could take it no longer. Then, James would work up the courage to speak or possibly make eye contact once again. Unfortunately, this was not the case. James was nervous and for some reason, he could not keep the butterflies in his stomach at bay for any longer.
Thankfully, though, the girl spoke up, introducing herself, which definitely saved James the trouble of asking for her name. Oh what a fiasco that would have been. It used to be so easy for him back in his hometown. Now, it just seemed all too unfamiliar.
”I’m James Kent.” He smiled, pausing for a moment as he battled with himself on whether or not he should offer her a hand to shake. In the end, he decided against it, keeping his hands firmly beside him. With a quick glance back at her, he decided not to look up any longer. Besides, she was wearing short shorts which definitely didn’t mix with the fact that he was sitting below her, looking up to talk to her. How do you say awkward much?

Destiny quietly watched him as he took his place on the floor, joining her in the quiet corner she had been lucky enough to snag. While the library was still quite peaceful, there was a soft buzz now that more students had come. She loved the soothing silence from before, and couldn't help mourning its passing as the block progressed. If she had been smart, she would've went to go catch one of her classes and attempted to enjoy some quiet that way. Though, a teacher droning on and on with half-dead students barely counted as "quiet."
Her eyes studied his face for a moment after she asked her question, watching the smile tug at his lips from the simple mention of music. The word had the same effect on her most of the time. To her, it meant freedom and true peace, both physically and mentally, all summed up into one word. It held power, yet was one of the most gentle and emotional past times that existed. It was confusing, but that just made it even more fun. You could never truly hate music, because it held a little something that touched and melted even the stoniest person's heart. Afterall, it'd saved her black hole of a heart and in turn made her into a happier person. That was something to be amazed by.
The small smile on her lips widened as he confirmed he liked music. "Me, too. Any favorite artists?" she replied, fidgeting with her hands in her lap for a long moment. Her eyes looked back up when he said he played guitar, a new and excited sparkle in them. "Really? How long have you been playing?" she smiled. While there was a decent number of guitar players in the school, Des never really felt comfortable talking to them. They tended to be either a) cocky boys who only played to impress girls, b) big-headed and stubborn, or c) so devoted to their music that they didn't have a second to spare for anyone else. On occasion, she would admit she was like the last one, but that was only on days when her moodiness was at its worst. And those days had been getting farther and farther apart as of late. Maybe it was just because she was being distracted by school, or just the knowledge that she only had two more years at the god foresaken school.
At the moment, Destiny was surprising herself with her own boldness. Saying her name had been a bit of an impulse, and a strong one at that. But, he'd given her his in return, so she figured it hadn't been too bad. He seemed to be almost as shy and timid as her, which made things easier for her. When she ran into abnoxiously loud people, Destiny tended to cringe more inside herself out of fear of saying or doing something that might anger the other person. Anyone quiet was more to her liking, and much prefered to talk with. They had at least one thing in common then. "A pleasure to meet you, James," she nodded down at him, looking back down at him when he stole a glance at her. Destiny couldn't help blushing darker when he glanced away, her stomach tightening as she moved to pull her exposed legs closer to herself. On the bright side, she had decided to shave her legs again this morning. At least she wouldn't look like a carpet if he did choose to glance her over. Though, that would probably just cause the awkwardness to increase.
Letting her hair fall back into its normal place, Des curled her legs close to her chest, resting her chin on her knees so only her lower legs were showing. This also caused her shorts to ride up a little, hinting at the curve leading up to her behind. She didn't notice it, too busy on covering her legs and trying to find a way to relax both herself and him at the same time. TAG: James! WORDS: 700! OUTFIT: hurrNOTES: :D

The thought that his whole class and more had joined him at the library was quite unfortunate and in the end James came to regret asking the teacher if he could possibly leave. Now, he could do nothing about it. People were talking, whispering and shifting around to make as much noise as they usually did in class- which was pretty loud in James’ opinion. He just had to deal with it, and seeing that he had a friend to talk to, who was just as shy and quiet as he was, James knew he could. However, as he glanced around him, he knew that the new found rumpus in the library was bothering Destiny just as much as it was bothering him. Thus, he knew he would have to apologize for it later.
James could think of a billion artists he particularly loved in order to answer her question. There were just too many to name. Nervously, James shrugged lightly, keeping his gaze toward the light blue carpet. ”Uhh, I guess Bruno Mars would have to be one of my favorite modern artists as of today.” He grinned, green eyes flashing up at her for only a moment. Unlike most sport jocks or many of the teenage male population, he absolutely hated rap, screamo and anything that couldn’t be understood. He liked gentle music that usually involved love or life in general. However, if anyone searched through his music player, they would be filled with those songs he particularly disliked. Of course, they were all for show. On days when he was with himself, he would go through youtube and find all the songs he loved just to listen to them as he did homework. Other days when his few guy friends came around, he would be blasting screamo in the background so he wouldn’t seem as boring as really thought he was.
Again James uncomfortably shrugged at her question, yet he felt inclined to answer. He was a bit ashamed at his lack of years of experience. Five was a pretty good number, but he knew many more who’ve been holding a guitar their entire life. However, he didn’t mind. It wasn’t completely his fault for his lack of experience. ”Just about five years.” He answered with a quiet smile as he slowly lifted his gaze back onto her. In his hand, James ran his fingers along the open pages of the music book. The familiar sight of music notes was comforting and he was proud to say he knew what each one was and what they sounded like. ”H-how about you?” He stuttered, rubbing the back of his neck before turning his attention back onto the ground. He couldn’t help but smile and blush a little himself.
Calm down, James. He thought to himself as he stared at his feet. There was no doubt in his mind that he thought Destiny was cute especially the way she blushed and smiled before she would turn away just as he did whenever he was in some nervous and awkward situation. Why she was blushing, James had no clue. Had those butterflies transferred from his stomach to hers? Shaking the thought away, James nodded. ”And you, Destiny.” James paused, hesitating for a moment before speaking up once more. ”Y-you have a really pretty name.” With that, James lowered his head slightly, hoping she wouldn’t find him to incredibly awkward and leave. Was I too forward? Is that something you say in this situation? James was nearly looking up her shorts after all. Blushing, he kept his eyes focused on his black sneakers. Yet he couldn’t help his boyish nature, catching a glimpse of Destiny’s behind. For that, he screamed at himself to look away, immediately breaking his glance at her shorts to force his eyes back up onto her face. With that, he chickened out and looked away. Damn. She’s beautiful.

Honestly, Destiny couldn't figure out where all these people were coming from. Had one teacher just let their students run wild? Was there a mean sub in one room or other, causing the kids to beg for passes to the library? She'd done that how many times, and she knew it was pretty easy to trick an unknowing teacher into letting the students roam the halls at their own pleasure. It was like they did anything without the real teacher anyway, so what was the point of sitting in a room, listening to chattering kids as a boring movie of some sort droned on in the background? There wasn't one.
Des couldn't help worrying that she was firing too many questions off at this young man. It was the only way she knew how to get a conversation going, what with the small amount of practice she'd had at it. But, it seemed like he didn't mind answering them, so she'd keep firing off as many as she could come up with. As long as he kept talking, Des figured the awkwardness wouldn't get too bad. Silence between two people who were practically sitting on top of each other tended to be a little bit awkward. A gentle smile graced her lips as he grinned up at her, unable to stop herself from looking into the green eyes that looked up at her for a quick moment. She began to fiddle with her fingers when he looked away, chewing the inside of her lip nervously. "Really?" she blinked for a moment when he answered, taken by complete surprise. Usually, all the guys would've named some loud, abnoxious musician who Destiny despised. Sure, she liked her music loud, but she didn't like the kind of loud music those people did. Of course, everyone was entitled to their own taste when it came to the subject. But, that didn't stop her from not liking their choices. "That's cool. I like him, too, and Jason Mraz. His song 'Lucky' is really cute," she smiled brightly, still biting her lip a little. Nervous habits were hard to break, as she'd learned awhile ago when attempting to check her own. The lip biting wasn't too horrible, but the constant blushing and stuttering definitely were.
Even though she hadn't grown up with a guitar in her hands, Destiny prided herself on the six years, almost seven, she had been playing. The magical instrument had been introduced to her in sixth grade, and she'd fallen in love with it right away. While piano had come earlier in her life, she never had as much passion playing it as she did her guitar. Her mother had forced her to take piano lessons, building the foundations for the music-loving young woman. "Longer than a lot of the people here," she nodded when he again answered her. Five years was a decent amount of time, seeing as she'd only been playing for a year and a half more. "Six years now. Almost seven. I started in middle school." Destiny's voice was in no way bragging or proud. She wasn't one to act like that, even if she knew a lot of people would kill to be able to play an instrument, especially guitar.
Destiny couldn't stop the butterflies that were churning in her stomach. Obviously, James wasn't the usual guy you ran into on the streets around here. He was a lot ho- Shut up, Destiny! You shouldn't be gawking over him! she scolded herself mentally. But nobody could deny the fact that he was indeed a gorgeous boy. And, recieving compliments from said boy was a whole new ball game for Des. Her cheeks flushed an entire shade, turning almost bright red. "T-Thank you. I-I usually go b-by Des, though," she replied, stumbling over the two short sentences. Destiny hid her face behind her curls again, face darkening even more when she felt eyes staring at her. She could tell he wasn't looking at her face and part of her was a little excited someone was noticing her for once. The other, more rational, part was protesting that a hot boy would only want her for her body, even though she figured it was nothing special. TAG: James! WORDS: 746!! OUTFIT: hurrNOTES: :D

James couldn’t help but smile at that familiar surprise in her voice. If they were talking to each other before the incident at his hometown, James probably would have ranted off on some heavy metal guitar player or some hardcore screamo artists. It was all about appearance and how people thought about you back then. James still believed in that stuff yet now it didn’t really seem to matter as much. All he had to cover up was the fact that he had done something terrible long ago, instead of having the hide his soft spot for gentle music. Frankly, it’s all much easier now, but with a much higher risk if he was ever found out. The thought of what he had done flashed through his eyes. He winced for moment, closing his hand into a fist as if to punch away the pain that throbbed in his heart. He missed his old girlfriend. He regretted killing her.
Destiny’s next statement immediately snapped him out of it. He immediately perked up at the mention of Jason Mraz. He too was an amazing musician whom James admired. Besides, their names were pretty much cousins. ”If only I had my guitar. I know that song by heart.” He grinned proudly, yet his tone was quite timid. He wasn’t one to brag. With only five years of experience and not a musical background to his name, he knew it must be an easy song to play and a song that most guys learned to pick up girls as well. Adding to that, James had done all the bragging he could do back when he was a super jock. It all just seemed strange and unfamiliar to him now. Suddenly feeling a bit too proud, he turned his gaze back downward, his fingers now picking at the edge of his black elbow sleeved shirt, teeth grinding against each other lightly. If he wasn’t careful, he could nervously grind his teeth into dust or possibly rip his shirt all together. Now wouldn’t that be a sight to see.
James was slightly surprised that Destiny had been playing only a year and a half more than he had. Most people who were musically obsessed usually held about 10 or more years under their belt, especially in the form of a piano or even a harmonica. However, he was glad they were pretty much the same. It saved him the trouble of looking too stupid in front of her especially since he suddenly found the need in impress her- hence his minor bragging.
A wide smile spread across his face as he found her as stuttery as he was. With that, James slowly looked up at her, this time a bit more confident. They had a lot in common, making this situation a lot better for him. ”Des. He repeated. ”Even cuter.” Did that seriously come out my mouth? His confidence was growing. Maybe it was the fact that he was getting his game back. Ever since the incident, James had been too scared to talk to any girl in fear that things would repeat themselves or they could possibly find out about what he did and run away, breaking his heart. Yet this was completely different. He felt himself falling head over heels for this girl he had only met a few minutes ago. Maybe it was her smile or her beautiful body. Then again, he absolutely loved how much their personalities coincide. And seeing that he wasn’t focusing on her body alone, James knew this was something special. A gentle smile continued to dance upon his lips as his eyes met with hers, glimmering a brighter green than usual.
Suddenly realizing that he was staring, James darted his gaze away once again, like a frightened rabbit. She probably thinks you’re creepy. Stop staring at her butt! He screamed at himself, letting his arms protect him as he rubbed the back of his head. He had expected to receive a female dog slap across his cheek by now, and yet, his cheek was as fine and dimply as usual. ”Um, I’m sorry. Really. I-I don’t mean to stare at you or anything. I just-“ James cut himself off as he felt the edge of his fabric pull apart. ”Shit.” He hissed under his breath before looking back up at Destiny. ”Uh. I’ve got to go…” James quickly picked up his books and nervously got onto his feet. ”I-It was nice meeting you, Des. I mean, Destiny.” James murmured, finding his shell once again. He used her full name, just to be polite and formal. After all, he used profanity in front of her. Language like that was usually frown upon by the female sex.

To her, appearance didn't mean too much. Sure, she sometimes wished she could be like the skinny little twigs on the cheerleading team, or have the toned bodies of some of the other sporty girls at the school. But, honestly, who didn't do that? Envy was a part of the human nature, and even the happiest people couldn't deny that. Of course, Des was quite content with being the pretty little wall flower she was, hovering on the edges of society with her music as the only constant companion. It'd been that way for awhile, ever since she'd found out about her 'real' mom, if the woman could even be called that. She'd ruined Des' life without even being in it, and that made her crawl from her bubbly self to the state of shy and quiet guitar girl.
Destiny watched James' wince, eyes flashing with a little worry. For some reason, this young man was giving her unknown butterflies and feelings. He kept making her smile and blush, though the blushing wasn't abnormal in the slightest. And he was a musician, like her. That just increased her opinion of him even more. She giggled gently when he said he could play the whole song, being able to so the same herself. "Have you ever sung it with anyone else? I mean, as a real duet," she said, voice still soft to match his. Destiny couldn't keep herself from liking how quiet he was. Most of the boys she'd run into were abnoxious and loud, or completely perverted. And the perverts were usually the freshman who decided they wanted to come stalk the older girls and try to land one of them. Destiny refused every single one with a cold word, making a good title for herself as "undatable." She didn't need a boyfriend, especially a younger one who only wanted to get laid.
She could tell there was a hint of surprise on his face now when she told him how long she'd been playing. Gently biting her lip, Destiny corrected her little statement, "Well, I've been playing guitar for six years. My mom's had me playing piano since I was little, even though I begged her to let me stop." Des smiled softly at memories of a younger her clinging to a door frame by her fingertips while her mother attempted to pull her out the door to go to those piano lessons. She'd never been very fond of her teacher, or the snotty booger of son she had. He'd pull her hair or make distracting noises while she was trying to learn harder pieces or new chords. It just made the things harder, and made her not want to go suffer through them even more. In the end, though, she was happy she knew how to play. Guitar and piano went well together, especially when writing music. While they sounded a lot different, they were easy enough to switch between for her purposes.
The blush in her cheeks rose even more when he called her name cute, unable to keep herself from liking when he said it. She couldn't understand why she was enjoying this so much, or why her heart was beating faster than usual. And, she wasn't about to let those nerves scare her away from this. Her blue eyes looked down into his green ones, a bright twinkle playing in them as she drowned into the deep jungles gazing at her. While she'd never admit it now, she loved green eyed boys. It'd just been a preference of hers for awhile, and James' made the fact jump to the front of her mind. Maybe there was a reason she liked that color... maybe this was meant to happen. Destiny blinked at the thought, shoving it away as quick as it had come up. She barely knew this boy's name and she was already saying they were meant to be together.
But, those deep pools of green were ripped from her the next second after she realized where his gaze had dropped to. Destiny didn't really mind at all, more because she had this want to impress his now. And apparently she wasn't going to get a chance to do that. She blinked at him with innocent confusion written all over her face as he stood up and gathered his books, a flash of hurt crossing her features when he said he had to go. No! Stay here! Please! she screamed internally, not wanting him to go away just yet. Even if they had only met, Des could feel this kind of... connection. Whether it was all a fantasy in her head or actual reality didn't occur to her as she stood up with him, scrambling to catch him before he darted away. "Don't go. Please," she said softly, biting her lip hard the moment after. Who was she to keep him here when he obviously wanted to get away from her? "I-I... What's wrong?" Destiny hadn't minded him looking her over in the slightest, seeing as she'd been doing the exact same to him. Looking down at her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her shorts, she mumbled, "I d-don't mind that you were looking. R-Really. You are a guy afterall, that's kind of normal behaviour for them." She looked up at him with a smirk playing on her lips as she finished, trying to get him to relax. If he really wanted to run away because of this, she'd let him. But if she could stop him, she totally would. TAG: James! WORDS: 970! OUTFIT: hurrNOTES: <3

James tried his best to look nice at every moment possible. Maybe it was the fact that he had been a football jock and had adapted to getting girls here and there just by his appearance and his social status. Then again, he hated looking stupid or trashy or even dirty. His shirts were always clean and pressed and his jeans had the perfect wrinkle to them. Most could call him nerdy, yet he just called it being clean. Now looking in girls was a whole different story. Yes, James was a football star back in the old days. He had dated those bleach blond cheerleaders and has now grown sick of them. They couldn’t do a proper pushup if their life depended on it. Plus, they screamed and shouted at every little thing that either scared them or pissed them off. Now with those athletic girls, James preferred not to go there. He had gotten into a competition more than once with his girlfriend and soon enough, he ended up breaking her leg or possibly knocking down a building. Thus, he kept himself away from those overly-competitive and athletic types. Now the shy crowd was something he had never dared try before, yet now that he was basically part of it, it was a nice welcome. Even in the short amount of time he had been in the library, he had grown fond of Destiny- especially her shy personality. She wasn’t obnoxious or pompous. She didn’t require a complement every five seconds (although James just couldn’t help himself) and she didn’t yell at him for staring at her. What a difference.
He tilted his head and smiled immediately replying with a simple ”No.” However, James would love to sing the song as a duet. He had always been missing the other half and the other piece to it. Originally a duet, James would sing the song as if he was both, yet he just couldn’t pull it off. Glancing up at Des, a slow smile crept across his face. ”Have you?” He inquired, timidly. ”Perhaps, we could maybe… sing it together sometime?” He quickly added, the thought working up a romantic storm in his head. He could imagine walking into a little courtyard, flowers all in bloom. In front of him was a beautiful oak tree. Beneath it would be Destiny with her guitar, looking as beautiful as ever. Around his shoulder would be his guitar and soon enough, they would be singing the day away, making a beautiful harmony. Shaking his head, he snapped himself out of his little trance for he knew he was beginning to stare again.
A gentle laugh rumbled across his throat. James hated the fact that he never got to learn how to play the piano, yet he was glad at the same time too for he knew that it was torture for most kids. However, it usually paid off in the end, molding them into amazing musicians. Thus, he wished his mother had forced him to take lessons when he was younger. Unfortunately, hadn’t and now he could do nothing about it except for gawk at everyone else. Thankfully, though, he knew how to play the guitar. At least that was good enough to put him at equal musical terms with everyone else.
James froze immediately as those words that he had been wishing for her to say drifted out of her mouth. ”Don’t go. Please.” he smiled before slowly turning around to face her. They were rather close seeing that there was only a small patch of ground to stand on with the chair she had been sitting in behind her and a whole mess of students behind him. He couldn’t help but flush a deep colored red, a bright red that even shown through his lightly tanned skin. However, he just couldn’t get himself to answer her question. Thus, he waited, a gentle smile tugging at the edges of his lips as he found her comforting him, which she succeeded in doing. Yet he still found their whole situation quite uncomfortable. He was quiet, listening to her breathing. As James leaned in closer, he couldn’t help but let his shoulders fall a bit. Her scent was intoxicating, both sweet and subtle. His hand gently touched hers as he moved it forward and back, nervously. Stop, James. She’s not your girlfriend. You can’t just go on and touch and hold hands with whoever you want. He stopped himself, now biting his lip nervously as well.
”I-I’m sorry… I feel like a pig.” he hissed at himself, taking a slight step back. Unfortunately, he ended up stepping on someone’s finger, causing everyone to glance up at the two. Frankly, they were the only ones standing up. The red pigment in his cheeks growing deeper, James rubbed the back of his neck and gave her an innocent look. ”Still. I shouldn’t be looking.” He turned his eyes away before letting out a slow sigh. ”Forgive me… and I will stay.” he finally said after an awkward moment of silence. This time, his eyes met hers with a puppy dog sort of look, a glimmer of amusement in them.

Underneath the careless facade she so often wore around everyone, especially at school, Destiny did really care about how people saw her. Did they think her too shy? Too nerdy? Some other horrible thing? While she wondered about this, she also knew that they didn't truly matter. She wouldn't see most of these people after she graduated, anyways, so what was the point in trying to impress them? If they didn't like her, that was their opinion. Of course, she didn't like some of her classmates, especially the snotty popular girls who believed they could do whatever they pleased. Their lack of respect often annoyed Des, who was as obedient as a trained puppy dog. That was the reason she'd meekly agreed to do all the stupid errands for the teachers working on planning for the homecoming dance. She'd quickly gotten bored, though, and had escaped to the library, which had apparently been a few other peoples' plan as well. Not that she minded running into James in the slightest.
The gentle smile that was dancing on her lips matched the quiet and peaceful atmosphere that usually surrounded Des. She'd been told numerous times that she was a fragile girl, only because she was graceful and timid in her movements or words. The hard-hearted young woman was tougher than most believed, even if her exterior self said otherwise. She'd been forced into doing sports for years, her dad having wanted her to be as skilled physically as she was musically. While she'd hated the mud and sweat involved in some of the activities, Destiny did pride herself on her few medals for competitive swim and baseball. Of course, she'd been one of the only girls on her little league team, but she'd still played. Poorly, mind you, but it still counted in her eyes. Music, though, ah. Des was plenty proud of her music talents, as were her parents. And those were all real accomplishments, in her eyes. Lots of people weren't lucky enough to know how to read music or play an instrument, and it was rare that she ever actually found someone who did. It just made this little encounter with James all the more special. She shook her head slightly when he asked if she'd ever performed the song with another person. If you counted playing along to the recording on youtube, then yes, but that was about it. She'd never had the guts to actually sing in front of someone else, let alone with them. "I've never had a chance to," she shrugged lightly. Her entire face brightened the moment after, however, when he offered that chance. Sing with him? Sing a love song with him? She blinked for a moment, trying to shove the butterflies filling her stomach away. He shouldn't be causing strange feelings, not when she'd only known him for a few precious moments. "I-I'd like that. Though, I'm not as great a singer as Colbie," she smiled down at him, biting the inside of her lip modestly.
Her grin widened a bit when he laughed, ears drinking in the sound. Destiny couldn't deny the fact that it sounded like the most amazing music to her, even if she wouldn't be telling him that anytime soon. She shouldn't be falling for this boy. She shouldn't be falling for any boys. Having her heart broken was one of her deepest fears, and putting herself in a position where it could happen seemed stupid. Therefore, she'd crossed dating off her list. The stress, pain, and tears could be saved for after college, when she could spare the time for them.
And yet, all of that had slipped her mind when she practically begged James to stay with her. That mind was continuing to blank as he turned back around to face her. Destiny was surprised he hadn't pointed out how loudly her heart was beating yet, seeing as it was pounding in her ears. Her nerves relaxed only slightly when she noted the smile on his face, and the blush in his cheeks now instead of her. When a guy blushed, Des couldn't help finding it adorable. She didn't know why, she just did. But the silence was starting to make her worry again. Her teeth chewed on her lip as she looked up at him expectantly, waiting for him to say something or that she was insane.
When she felt something touch her hand, a bolt of electricity raced through her veins. Destiny's breath caught at the feeling as his hand brushed hers and she couldn't help blinking in shock. Why was this happening? It never had before! And then the amazing moment was gone. He'd pulled his hand away, causing her face to fall slightly, just like him attempting to escape again did. When he stepped on someone's hand, she couldn't help a small twitch of her lips, even though her cheeks brightened when everyone's eyes turned on them. That just made everything worse.
Destiny turned her eyes back to James' face, a smile finding its way onto her lips again as she found he was blushing almost as much as her. "You're already forgiven," she replied gently. "Now sit back down before you step on someone else," she teased, boldly grabbing his hand and lacing her fingers with his. Destiny sat back down on the floor this time, leaving the chair for him and reluctantly releasing his hand. The sparks from his touch still tingled on her palm, though, and she quickly folded her hands in her lap to resist the urge of looking down at them. "Now we shouldn't have any problems with you gawking," she smirked playfully up at him, folding her legs under herself again a little self-consciously. Des leaned back against the side of the chair, a happy smile tugging at her lips as she looked up at the gorgeous boy before her. TAG: James! <3 WORDS: 1039! A gentle smile flickered across James’ lips as she agreed to sing with him someday. Yet he immediately shook his head at her doubt in herself. ”Nah, I’m sure you’re amazing. Besides, you’re just as beautiful as she is.” He quickly turned his eyes away, unable to cut himself off before those words transformed from thoughts into words. Shit. He hissed again, immediately reaching back and letting out a slightly nervous chuckle. Why he was complimenting her so much, James really didn’t know, but he knew he couldn’t stop. Each and every word and phrase he completely meant. Maybe it was that player side of him trying to get out again, eager to take advantage of this pretty little wall flower, yet the butterflies racing up a storm in him stomach told otherwise. Oh how much James hoped it was the second one. He admired Destiny greatly. She was cute, humble and talented. He wouldn’t be surprised if beauty and seduction was her power. Was it? Did she have one? At that moment, he found himself staring again, both in fondness and in wonder. James had the power to rip buildings apart. There were many students at the school who held powers of their own, yet few showed them off. With James, it was hard expressing his power, yet it was so easy to use. Many found him working out at the gym, lifting weights and the treadmill instead of running on it. Other times, he would fill a normal punching bag with lead weights just so it was an actual challenge to push it around. However, that would be the only time one would ever see him express his powers. That, and when he plays a sport- where it is difficult to hold back. Now the other half of the school’s students was normal. They were human and few even realized when a gifted child was near them at all. Even James found it hard to tell people apart. Suddenly, he found himself hoping that he wasn’t under some spell or having a flashback of some sort. He liked Destiny and he wanted to know it was true.
As if on command, he felt sparks flicker from her hand to his has he stood rigid in slight alarm. She’s holding my hand…? He could hardly believe it, yet he could feel her warmth and her gentle heartbeat in that little connection they had between them. Surprisingly, he felt his heart beat in sync with hers and apparently, both hearts were beating quite loud. Oh how much he just wanted to savor this moment, holding her hand, drinking in her scent. Yet as he felt his hand tighten around hers, he panicked for a moment. Stop James! You idiot! Don’t break her hand! James had gotten a bit too excited, his hand now tightly wound around hers. He didn’t want to let go. Hissing slightly in his mind, he forced himself to relax, yet in all this, he couldn’t help but smile at her like an innocent little kid. He was just so happy.
His mind snapped back to what she had said. She forgave him, which immediately caused his smile to grow in magnitude. He laughed at her comment, feeling that he had been a bit late in replying. Then, all was ripped from him. Feeling her hand wriggle away, James immediately let go, holding his breath and hoping that he hadn’t caused her any pain. He wasn’t sure if he was being gentle or not. It was often quite difficult for him to tell seeing that lifting a ton of metal was like lifting a feather. Now, holding someone’s hand was even less than that. However, the sudden loss of warmth made him frown, eyes turning downward like a forgotten puppy dog.
James glanced back at the chair then back down at Destiny who now took her place where he had once been. ”But-“ He quickly protested. It wasn’t gentleman like to make a girl sit on the floor like some sort of animal, banned from the kitchen table, yet seeing that it was much more awkward to stare at her body, James counted his losses and immediately took the seat, grinning quite widely. ”Thanks, Des.” He murmured, leaning forward, back arched so that his elbows met his knees. It brought him closer to Destiny, making talking to her much less awkward that it already has been. ”But next time, you’re getting the chair, but you’ll have to be wearing jeans.” A deep color of red spread across his cheeks once again as he nervously turned his gaze away. However, it wasn’t long until he was forced to look at her once again, green eyes meeting shimmering blue ones.
Thankfully, the library had gotten quiet. James guessed it was because the librarian must’ve thrown a fit when he stepped on that person’s hand. Thus, the students were hesitant to talk. Thankgoodness. Taking a deep breath, James calmed himself and folded his hands together. It just wasn’t the same.
”So, maybe, I can… take you to the gardens sometime? W-we can probably bring our guitars and play there… m-maybe have a p-picnic?” James asked, as timidly as ever. His eyes flashed from the ground back to her eyes then back down again in fear that his heart would stop all together. It was beating to fast and he wouldn’t be surprised if his ears were turning just as red as his cheeks due to the increased blood flow. ”W-would that be okay? I-I mean, you don’t have to if you’re really busy. I-I have stuff to do too- kinda…” He trailed off. Truthfully, James had absolutely nothing to do. Yes, he took difficult classes, yet he took no sports and the only thing he did in his free time was play guitar or work out. It wasn’t a busy schedule at all. He gulped, his adam’s apple feeling like a lead weight, dropping in the suspense. Please say yes. Please say yes. He thought to himself; his leg now tapping the ground nervously. He knew he shouldn’t be so nervous. Destiny had nearly begged him to stay. Then again, he felt himself completely vulnerable. She was beautiful and for once, he actually felt like he had no chance with her. Was that true? Quite possibly maybe.

With how much James was smiling, Destiny couldn't help admiring how handsome he looked when he did so. His green eyes seemed to sparkle a little more, and his face lit up as if the gesture pushed away some heavy cloud. She much preferred when he smiled, especially when she believed herself to be the reason why. He was the sole reason she was smiling away, and she hoped it was returned. How embarrassing would that be if he didn't return the feelings she was starting to subconciously form?
But with the compliments he get giving her, Destiny hoped that wouldn't be the case. She didn't know how it was happening, but James was slowly beginning to leave his mark on her heart. All those silly side effects love was supposed to have in novels and movies were beginning to happen to Des. The butterflies, the smiling, the heart-skipping. It was new, and very nice. "Would you stop that?" she laughed quietly, averting her eyes bashfully. "You keep making me blush." Her tone was playfully scolding now and she was chewing on her lip for about the hundreth time. The bright scarlet in her cheeks showed just how much she liked him saying all the sappy things about her, though, and she really wished he wouldn't stop. But did he mean any of it? For all she knew, he could be one of the many players at the school who lived to take advantage of girls' feelings. And she'd refused to be one of those girls millions of times. And yet, Des got the feeling that James wasn't like that. He didn't want to use her for a few weeks, hoping to get a little action, then ditch her for some new whore. She'd never even had sex before, and she wasn't going to lose her virginity in a situation like that. It was too frightening to even think about, so Des shoved the thoughts away as quickly as they appeared. Why should she be doubting him? He hadn't done anything to prove he was in fact only interested in certain... activities. Well, he had been staring at her ass. Though that could hardly count, seeing as any normal guy would do that given the chance.
No normal guy could make her head spin so much with one little touch, however. Nor could he make the rest of the world fade away for a single moment. For one breath, Destiny felt like somehow James would understand her, he wouldn't judge her for all her various faults. Her sea blue eyes looked up into his while their hands were connected, confusion and admiration swirling in their depths. This was not happening. But, she couldn't move. Breathing was already hard enough while he was smiling at her like that.
And yet, even the best moments need to be ruined. Her eyes widened slightly when she felt his hand tighten on hers, shots of pain shooting from her hand now instead of pleasurable electricity. Des didn't know how he was that strong. Sure, he did seem to have an amazingly toned body under the shirt he was wearing, but even the strongest guys at the school weren't this tough. She blinked for a moment, the pain flashing in her eyes just as his hold relaxed again. With a deep breath, she brushed it off and smiled easily up at him from her cozy spot on the floor, waiting for him to just sit down. Honestly, she didn't mind sitting down there and if it would make things less awkward, then she'd give up the comfy chair. Talking with him was worth her legs falling asleep.
She couldn't help noticing how his face fell when she pulled her hand from his. It gave her just a smidge more confidence. Maybe he really was feeling all these sparks and butterflies, just like her. Destiny smiled up at him, her head leaning against the chair a little as he rested his elbows on his knees. If she was honest, she liked this position better. She could stare up at him, the soft light from the windows outlining his figure nicely and giving him a glowing effect. And, again, all she could think was one word. Wow. It took her a moment to process his words when he spoke, a small laugh falling from her lips when she did. "This'll be one of the last times I get to wear shorts, anyways. It's already starting to get cold out," she grinned. Her beam grew when she noticed the blush still painted on his cheeks. "You're really cute when you blush," she blurted out, flushing herself the moment after she said it. Her eyes widened in embarrassment and turned to study her hands in her lap. Had she seriously just said that?!
Destiny listened carefully to him as he spoke, repeating the words in her head for a few moments before really believing them. Had he just... asked her out? Her eyes watched his dart between her and the floor and she couldn't help but notice again how darn cute he was, all timid and nervous. "Like... like a date? An actual date?" she replied, amazement clear in her tone. Very rarely did guys ask Des out, and when they did, she usually gave them a straight out no. That was only because half the time they were nerds who thought all quiet and socially-awkward people were in their class of dating. Des couldn't tell you the first thing about fixing a computer or solving one of those endless math problems geeks so loved. It was all way beyond her comprehension. "I'd like that, James, a lot," she finally said, voice as quiet and hesitant as his. "I'm not busy at all this Saturday. Would that work for you?" Her voice was now full of hope, wanting this picnic to happen as soon as possible. Des' smile turned a little playful as she noticed his foot tapping nervously right beside her and she gently reached out a hand to stop it, turning the smile on him as she looked up again. James definitely considered himself lucky. Where else could he have found a beautiful and charming girl such as Destiny? No where else, but the library and they ended up running into each other through a dislike of noise and the unfortunate rush of students off of class. However, it wasn’t so unfortunate now. James actually thanked that stroke of fate and that thought to come bounding over to her in hopes of grabbing a nice seat. Flashing his eyes toward the floor, he laughed to himself lightly. The books he had intended on reading before all of this, now stood in a lonely pile, still untouched. However, he knew they wouldn’t mind. Would they?
James winced lightly as he braced himself for another slap in the face. Sometimes, girls didn’t take compliments and instead returned that well thought out remark with a slap across the face or an angry, sarcastic remark. James knew it well for he knew that girls expected guys like him to only compliment girls when it came in their favor. In this case, that statement was completely false. James was falling hard for the girl he had just met a few moments ago. His heart was sure (in all its beating and merry skipping) that Destiny was the one. He would never compliment her just to get her in bed or just to date her for a few days and break up with her for another. James wasn’t like that… now-a-days. Unfortunately, his jock-hood days brought him to dooshbaggery. He dated girls here and there and although he still, proudly had his virginity, he used compliments to his advantage. They fell for him like flies and the old James loved it. However, the new James was unfamiliar with it all. It had been a while since he’d talked to a girl and now, he was falling for the first one he’d established a short conversation with. Was he taking it too fast? James didn’t know, yet the butterflies in his stomach were sure that he was on the right track.
However, James did not receive a slap in the face, nor a harsh comment. Destiny’s tone was the complete opposite. She was playful and her laugh was like beautiful music to his ears. Oh how much he loved her laugh and her smile and her hair… Words could not describe her place in his heart- or the place she was beginning to slip into. Rubbing the back of his neck, James shook his head lightly, unable to hold a gentle laugh himself. ”I can’t help it…” He trailed off before meeting her eyes. He smiled, truly unable to control it all. It must’ve been embedded in the mind of man to laugh and smile in the presence of their soul mate like animal’s instinct. Plus, laughing was contagious, especially a laugh like Destiny’s. ”But if you want me to stop…” James began, rolling his eyes slightly before giving her the most playful look he could muster. Frankly, it was the first playful look he had made an effort to make in a while.
James’ face fell ever so slightly as Destiny admitted to the fact that she would have to stop wearing shorts. Maybe it was the foolish boy inside of him or maybe it was just encoded in his Y chromosome. James loved it when girls wore short shorts- or any type of shorts for that matter. They complimented their natural curves and although it did sometimes give hint to a bit of underwear when girls are unaware, James did not seek that. He just loved it when girls looked beautiful and in turn, he tried to return the favor and dress nicely himself- although short shorts would be a horrible sight to see with his legs.
Immediately realizing that he might’ve appeared even more of a perv that he already seemed, James put on a smile, eyes turning toward the window, instinctively as if he was going to see snow drizzling from the sky. Pfft. Impossible.
Destiny’s next comment completely took the boy by surprise. She thinks I’m cute…? was his only though, racing through his head as he flushed even a darker shade due to that comment. His heart leapt. They were making great progress. ”Really…? You think so?” He grinned, unable to hold himself back. His head was slightly tilted down in slight embarrassment and curiosity. He had never really been called cute before, except when he was in about fifth grade and was definitely not big enough to fill his father’s suit. Back in his home town he had received comments like ‘hot’, ‘sexy’ or anything along those lines. He found them routine and those girls usually sought out popularity. ‘Be with the football team’s quarterback and you receive popularity for life.’ He might’ve just as well had that painted across his chest. James absolutely hated it. Thus, cute was definitely a change. A great change at that.
Now James became nervous once again. The pause between his question and her reply (which came in the form of a question) was completely too long- in his mind at least. He believed that his heart had nearly stopped here and there before sparking back to life and dying back down again. He nodded lightly at her question, green eyes still meeting sea blue carpet. All that was racing in his mind was: Will she say yes? I bet she’ll say no. No she can’t say no. Yes she can, now stop looking at her! And then, her answer came. James nearly leapt up in joy. The only thing that kept him from doing so was in fear that he would step on someone’s finger again. Instead, he hobbled a bit in his seat, suddenly and immediately perked up. His back was straight and a boyish grin was plastered upon his face. She said yes! James couldn’t believe it. ”That would be awesome, Des. Just perfect.” His mind immediately cleared his gym session he had originally planned for Saturday. Besides, he went to the gym every day. It didn’t matter. All that mattered now was setting up his date with Destiny.
Old feelings were beginning to return: that feeling of victory as a girl agreed to go out on a date with him, that feeling that someone was out there who liked him and that feeling that he was the center of attention again. All good and bad in their own ways, yet one thing was certain. James was in love. And soon enough, more electricity ran through his leg as Destiny reached out and touched him, causing his body to immediately tense up and freeze. He looked down at her and smiled widely, eyes squinting slightly in pure joy. If he had to pick his favorite moment of all time in his life to far, it would have to be this one, yet with his plans formulating in his head, James knew that this moment would soon fall to a second. Out of a burst of confidence, he reached forward and gently held her hand, this time ready to keep himself from killing her with his grip. ”You most definitely won’t regret it.” James chirped, excitedly. Intertwining his fingers with hers, he reached into his back pocket with his free hand and handed her a paper and pencil. ”Write down your locker number. I’ll leave you a note with all the details on it, kay?” James’ tone was beginning to get clearer. His confidence was growing and now, excitement kept him from scurrying away before he could ruin it all. Unfortunately, he didn’t have his phone, which was accidentally destroyed when he was trying to catch it with his hand as it fell off a kitchen counter. Rushed and panicked, he crushed it as it landed in his hand, making it the seventh broken phone of the month. Go figure. His parents were angry as usual, yet he didn’t mind. Not a big fan of texting or informal phone calls, James rarely used his cell phone.
James took a deep breath as he waited for Destiny to write down her locker number, releasing his hand from hers for a moment. Oh how he loved the way her fingers fit beside his like a glove. Did he feel this before with his old girlfriend? James wasn’t sure, yet he knew that this was the first time these kinds of feelings surfaced. It made him shake and smile uncontrollably. His eyes shimmered brightly and shone with a bright green intensity. His life’s routine suddenly didn’t feel so dull anymore. Now thinking about it, this was the first time he had ever planned anything for Saturday in a long, long time. His Fridays and Saturdays were usually filled with going to the gym, learning new songs and just sitting around, waiting for something exciting to come around, repeating now and then, but now, he had Destiny and he was sure that he was truly happy.

It was no secret that Destiny had never been in love. Heck, she'd barely had a somewhat serious relationship, let alone one that she was actually head over heels for the guy in. She'd had a few boyfriends in the past, two or three to be exact. It had never seemed to important to her, never required to make her content. She had her parents and a guitar, that was all she truly needed, after all. And yet, this boy who was sitting before her was changing everything she'd ever thought about being in love. Des had figured it would come later on, when she graduated college and had a career in music stretching before her. While being a famous musician was one of her deeply-covered dreams, she'd given up on it outside of her own heart. Stage fright and fear of other peoples' opinions made her think of performing on a small scale instead. Or even teaching music to other aspiring students. But maybe she'd stick to performing solo for someone else... or with that someone.
Destiny's twinkling blue eyes watched James closely, studying his features for a long moment. He was obviously handsome, but there was some sort of shadow that was cast upon his face. It made her want to cuddle and comfort him like he was a teddy bear, and also scared her. And then the next moment it would be gone. Of course, he was smiling down at her in that moment and her own face brightened at the sight of it. It was strange how he kept causing her lips to tweak into the happy expression it was in now. But, then again, James was just making her feel happy in general. She felt more peaceful around him, like laughing wasn't so hard and smiling was natural, not forced. It was something she desperately needed. He was something she needed. For the extremely short time they'd known each other, Des could feel the change in herself. Her heart felt lighter, and her usually tired attitude seemed to be more smiley and upbeat. He made her giggle and made butterflies spring to life in her long-dorment stomach.
The sound of his laughter pulled her from day dreams, which he was of course the star of. Des got lost in that, however, for almost as long a moment, letting the sound echo back to her in her head. She returned his smile, it being the product of his amazing laugh. Her breath caught every so slightly as his eyes gazed down into hers again, drowning in the pools of green. How could one single guy's eyes be so friggin' gorgeous? "If you want me to look like a tomato, go ahead and keep it up. Otherwise, I suggest stopping," she teased back, reveling in the playful sparks between them. It was fun to be joking and laughing with someone new, especially when that someone was making your heart beat a little faster than normal. If people could cause heart attacks, Des was fairly sure James would be giving her one any moment. He'd probably drive her half insane with the butterflies that were fluttering inside her, so a love-related heart attack wouldn't be surprising.
Or, she could always die of embarrassment. That would be an effect from him, too. Destiny's cheek were a bright red by the time he finally said something, eyes trained on the floor as she mentally screamed at herself. How could you say something like that, you idiot?! He's probably been called that thousands of times by girls way hotter than you! Self confidence was something she severly lacked, especially when it came to guys. Deep down, she'd always been jealous of those skinny cheer leaders who were just oozing with self esteem and uneeed attention. She was much too shy and timid to ever be someone like that, but even if she could just get a pinch of their personality... maybe she wouldn't be so afraid to take chances. Like with James. "I-I... yeah," she mumbled, hair curtaining most of her face to hide her burning cheeks. Des was still trying to accept the fact that he hadn't jumped up and run away from her yet, but she definitely wouldn't question it. "I think you're really cute." Her teeth bit down hard on her lip, eyes still off of him. I'm an idiot. I'm an insane idiot. She sighed slightly, figuring that would be the final straw in this little meeting. Talking to strangers had never been her specialty, especially when the stranger was having such a strong effect on her. It just made everything worse.
The moment he said Saturday would work for their date, though, Destiny's eyes snapped back to his face. She relaxed a little at the smile and excitement she saw, unable to keep herself from absorbing his mood. Obviously, James was actually looking forward to that date and he wasn't just asking her out out of pity. That had happened once or twice, always ending in Des closing herself off from the male population even more. Hopefully, this attempt at love wouldn't turn sour. "Good. A picnic lunch in the gardens..." she mused quietly, eyes showing that her mind had turned dreamy. Destiny could already picture it. Him sitting under the oak tree, sunlight dancing against his dark hair and on the grass around him, playing a song just for her. So romantic!
The crackling electricity between her their skin was amazing and a lot like when their hands hand been intertwined. There was still a slight ache in her fingers from his death grip, but it was slowly beginning to fade. Especially since she was constantly being distracted by his presense in general. And when his hand again wound through hers, Des couldn't help blinking for a short moment. She gave his fingers a gentle squeeze, smiling brightly up at him while he spoke. Her body adjusted a bit so she was almost kneeling in front of him, making it easier to hold his hand and look up at him all at the same glorious time. "I'm sure you'll make sure I won't," she nodded, beaming up at him. Her eyes blinked when he began to pull something from his back pocket, brightening when he spoke again. She reluctantly freed her hand from his, scribbling the requested locker number down. Underneath, she quickly wrote her phone number along with her name. "Call me. O-Or text, if you can. I've usually got my phone on me," she said gently, folding the paper up and hesitantly tucking it into the front pocket of his jeans instead of handing it to him. She placed the pencil in his lap, though, and tangled her fingers back through his. Her entire body seemed to warm from the little contact and she felt herself longing for more. To cuddle up in his lap and feel those strong arms wrapped around her tiny body, press up against his side while they strolled down the hall together... do things all those sappy couples on TV did. It was starting to look more and more realistic, with James being the living hero of every fairy tale. TAG: James! WORDS: 1253! OUTFIT: hurrNOTES: :D
