"Oh shit. Oh God. Crap crap crap!"
Branches cracked beneath Matthew's feet as he nervously spun in circles. His face was now pale with fear, and he knew soon he'd lose control. It'd started out as a peaceful day. He had his homework done, and wanted to read a bit. But, the library was too noisy. The auditorium had been filled with people singing. And his dorm was too cramped. So, he thought the woods would be a good idea. He'd strolled down into the woods and even found a creek to lay by. Unfortunately, he didn't think he'd doze off. Now, he was completely lost from going the wrong way and panicking.
"Okay I turned... Left? No right. Or I think it was right." The mindless babbling filled the air of which way he went. Matthew's telekinesis was going out of control. A branch flew in front of his face, snapping itself into two before darting somewhere into the woods.
Matthew held tighter to his book, kneeling down my the creek and taking several deep breaths. He'd been raised in New York. Woods weren't exactly his forte. In fact, coming out into the forest was a dumb idea in the first place. But it had seemed so peaceful. His only sanctum.
He set the book next to him, reaching into the creek. The moment his fingers touched the cool water, he sprang back up. It was a lot colder than it had been just earlier. Matthew stod back up, snatching the book and then moving back to the giant oak tree that he had been reading beneath. He sat down beneath the tree, holding the book tighter.
After a few more deep breaths, he was calmer. He leaned his head against the tree, forcing himself to stay in control. He did what his nanny used to do to make him stop crying. Sing. "She got down on hands and knees, one ear against the ground, holding her breath to hear something, anything at all. The dirt whispered, "Child, I'm coming home". On cold nights, in a prayer for dawn. But the daylight, isn't what she wants. The concrete, calls my name again. I'm falling. Through the cracks I slip." A smile teased at his lips, and he sighed happily. Of course, his nanny never sang him Rise Against, but it worked all the same. Matthew closed his eyes, thinking about how he got there. Still, he could feel the fear tugging at him. He wanted out.[/blockquote]

Janie had been slowly getting used to her new school. She atleast knew her way around the place now. With her telepathic powers she was also starting to figure out the gifted from the normal students. She hadn't approached anyone yet to confirm but she was pretty sure she had got atleast most of them right. Thoughts were so confusing sometimes.
She had been playing a little keep me ups in the fields and talking to, she hoped, a possible friend. When stopping to pick up her ball from the floor she heard a faint panicking in her head. She couldn't quite make out the words but she was positive someone needed help. She hadn't really tried to pin point someone down by the thoughts in a very long time but this seemed like a good a time as any. She closed off all sound around her and concentrated on the thoughts. She smiled when she had found the general direction of the male's thoughts.
Deciding to see what was up she headed towards the forest and the thoughts. After what seemed only about 5 or 10 minutes she saw a guy up ahead. Not wanting him to find out how she had found him she just said a casual, "Hey, not lost are we?"

Matthew's head snapped to the sound of the voice, instantly jumping onto his feet. It took him a moment to realize that there was in fact another person there. He forced the fear away, putting on a gentle smile. He realized that if he answered yes to her question, he'd look like an idiot. But if he answered no, it was a lie. So instead, he chuckled softly and said, "See, people are never really lost. Just exploring gone wrong."
Matthew casually walked over to him, but his mind was racing. "Way to make yourself seem like a complete ass. I should have just explained I was new, told her I got lost, and asked her where exactly I am. Just tell her!" He kept the smile up though and then eyed over the girl. Long brown hair, brown eyes, a little bit shorter than him--and looked a little rebellious even.
He bowed his head lightly and introduced himself, "Matthew Stone." Matthew smiled apologetically and admitted, "I am new here and... I am quite lost actually..." The new student shrugged a bit and ran his free hand through his hair as the other hand squeezed the book nervously. "If I were her, I'd ditch me. She'll probably run off into the woods once more. Wait--how'd she find me? Oh screw it, at least I'm found."

"See, people are never really lost. Just exploring gone wrong." The obviously lost guy had said. Janie smiled.
"That's true enough. I've done it plenty of times myself," she replied while trying to not giggle. Hearing his babbling and frantic thoughts.
"Matthew Stone." He had introduced himself with an apologetic smile. "I am new here and... I am quite lost actually..."
'What was it with guys running their hands through their hair around here' she then thought. Both guys she had met today had done that. She couldn't recall even once where she had seen that back in England.
"Hey Matthew. I'm Janie and don't worry I'm pretty new here myself," she replied. She knew full well how easy it was to get lost around here. Even with her powers, when they had failed her, she had gotten lost quite a few times.
Janie then faltered a little when she heard his thoughts, wondering on how she had found him. Luckily he didn't seem to stick on wanting to find out so she quickly turned her worried face back into a smile, an uneasy one, but still.
"Come on then, we need to go back this way," she told him, indicating back the way she had came.

Matthew grinned, walking up to her with a slight nod. "Thank you very much," he politely said. His eyes trailed over the girl once more. Her voice sounded different, but noticable. "Ignore it. And don't stare, it's rude," his thought bit at him. He cleared his throat, looking forward through the forest.
"Janie? That's a very nice name," he replied with a tiny smile. Thankfully, she said she was new too. Matthew let out a bit of a sigh of relief and playfully said, "Oh good. I thought I was the only new person here."
"If it's easy to get lost how'd she find me then? And a new student. This isn't adding up," he thought, wanting to ask, but holding himself back. "What if she's gifted too? Wait. No. That's dumb. She probably just stumbld upon me. I was screaming at myself. Just let it go," he thought bitterly, but still the nagging thought remained.
"So do you do this in your free time? Save lost boys out in the woods? Or am I the first? Because really either way you're doing a good job," he laughed a little bit. It was a dumb joke, but he was still trying to relax some more. He knew he was making an idiot out of himself, but couldn't help it. [/blockquote]
